In social sciences the most disaggregated level is the one of
single individuals, whose micro-interactions generate social
organizations, whether large or small: from families to
groups of friends, to political parties, companies,
administrations, etc.
On
their turn, inter-organizational relationships produce systems
with a higher aggregation level, such as industrial clusters,
cities, etc. At an even higher level, inter-organizational
networks interactions produce other more aggregated systems,
i.e. regions, states and over-national organizations.
